Welcome! Yläkuu publishes moon, sky and folklore books, and sells wooden old style Finnish rune calendars.

Our first book, Yläkuu and alakuu - ajoituksen taito suomalaisessa kansanperinteessä came out 2005. Its name means Waxing and Waning Moon - the Art of Timing in the Finnish folklore. The book consists of collection of sayings and advice on when to do the farming, forestry, hunting, fishing, animal husbandry and household work according to the phases of the moon. It is purely folkloristic although its advice can easily be adopted to modern life. It is the first book that has been written about this subject in the Finnish folk tradition. Currently it is available only in Finnish.
